Marann Homes was founded in 2010 by Martin Knowles, who transitioned from the automotive industry after leading several large home renovation projects. Bringing his expertise in production, process control and optimization, Martin applied his focus on innovation and quality to the construction industry. This drive fuels our team’s commitment to delivering exceptional value, meticulous attention to detail, and a passion for efficiency in every project.
Marann Homes quickly expanded into custom homes and multi-residential builds in the Tri-city area. As a Tarion registered builder and a member of the Guelph Home Builder’s Association, we ensure all our projects meet or exceed Ontario Building Code (OBC) requirements, delivering the highest standards of construction and craftsmanship.

In 2010, Martin Knowles founded Marann Homes after a successful 20-year career at Linamar, where he held various middle management roles in the technical side of the business. During this time, Martin honed valuable skills that have been instrumental in his transition to the home construction industry, including Kaizen— the Japanese principle of continuous improvement. This philosophy drives his commitment to quality, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
A hands-on owner, Martin is deeply involved in every project, walking daily through each unit while under construction with a keen eye for detail and a focus on prompt problem resolution. His belief that “You’re only as strong as your weakest link” drives his dedication to building strong teams across all aspects of the business—from the Marann Homes team to our trusted suppliers and trade partners, all the way to our most important team member: the home buyer.
